More information

HIFU Newcastle

RT Aesthetics offers advanced MED: HIFU Ultra treatments at our Newcastle clinic.

HIFU stands for High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound, it is the latest non-surgical, non-invasive clinically proven technology for lifting and tightening the face, neck, décolletage and other areas of the body. It works by naturally stimulating the production of new collagen for a natural, textured and younger-looking appearance.*

HIFU treatment also known as HIFU facials, HIFU facelift and Ultherapy® is a revolutionary new technology that has been tried and tested for its benefits. HIFU treatment can lift and tighten the SMAS (superficial muscular aponeurotic system) layer of the skin. The SMAS layer is the same layer targeted during conventional surgery.

MED: HIFU Ultra is only used by approved medical clinics like ours – so you know you’ve got the best care with RT Aesthetics in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Non-Surgical Facelift Newcastle.

HIFU treatment has become one of the most sought-after lifting treatments for the face, neck & body, without going under the knife. HIFU is able to reach deep layers of the skin tissues that other anti-aging treatments cannot affect. This makes HIFU treatment a very popular alternative to surgery or more invasive treatments such as thread lifts or injectable toxins and fillers. HIFU treatment can lift and tighten the SMAS (superficial muscular aponeurotic system) layer of the skin. The SMAS layer is the same layer targeted during conventional surgery.

Just one session will tighten and lift the skin, reduce the appearance of wrinkles and improve skin tone, providing visible results that will last up to 3 years. HIFU has proven effective on sagging jaws/chins, crows feet, forehead frown lines and much more. Treatment time takes between 1 – 3 hours depending on the area we are treating. Plus with no downtime, you can be back at your usual routine immediately after.

RT Aesthetics offers advanced MED: HIFU Ultra treatment that uses focused ultrasound energy that is able to target the SMAS layer (deep structural layers) of the skin. By targeting heat at the specific depths within the skin layers the body undergoes the regenerative process, resulting in the production of new collagen. As new collagen is produced and increased within the treatment area, this leads to gentle lifting and tightening of the skin.

How HIFU Treatment Works.

HIFU treatments are based on hyperthermia lifting theory. The HIFU transducer irradiates 65-75Cº of high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) energy into the skin, this then creates thermal coagulation on the target layers of skin tissue with no damage on the skin surface. Following the initial treatment, the skin starts to undergo a wound-healing process that simulates collagen synthesis and regeneration.

Unlike lasers, radio frequency, surgery and other cosmetic procedures, HIFU bypasses the surface of the skin to deliver the right amount of ultrasound energy at the right depths within the skin at the desired temperature. This HIFU energy triggers a natural response under the skin, causing the body to enter into the regenerative process, resulting in the production of new collagen.

RT Aesthetics offers advanced 4D HIFU treatment that uses focused ultrasound energy that is able to target the SMAS layer (deep structural layers) of the skin. By targeting heat at the specific depths within the skin layers the body undergoes the regenerative process, resulting in the production of new collagen. As new collagen is produced and increased within the treatment area, this leads to gentle lifting and tightening of the skin.

HIFU treatment helps to reduce the signs of aging, for a younger, more refreshed appearance. HIFU treatment can also help reduce, uneven and/or untextured skin and areas of excess skin on the body. The treatment is unique in its ability to penetrate beneath the surface of the skin, targeting 3 different layers of the skin, including the SMAS (superficial muscular aponeurotic system) layer.

HIFU Treatment Results

Results from HIFU treatment can be seen within 6-12 weeks, with further results being reported for up to 6 months after the initial procedure. Clients who have undergone HIFU treatment can benefit from long-lasting results in excess of 2 years*. Although, as the skin continues to age, future touch-up treatments may be taken by the client yearly, this can help clients keep pace with the body’s natural aging process.

Many clients only need one HIFU treatment. However, based on the degree of skin laxity, the biological response to ultrasound energy, and the client’s collagen-building process, some clients benefit from additional treatment after 4 weeks.

HIFU History

MED: HIFU came out in 2017 and has been used in many salons across the UK. If you want to skip to the latest HIFU then please click here. HIFU is updated yearly and in the last 3 years it has come a long way. The latest HIFU generation is MED: HIFU Ultra.

However, not all clinics will offer this new MED: HIFU Ultra treatment as it requires a specialist aesthetic practitioner to operate the machine. However, this machine is proven to work and we would definitely say this machine is far better than 4D & 5D HIFU. It fires 950,000 more focused ultrasound dots within the skin and is proven to be 92% more effective than 4D & 5D HIFU.

HIFU Technology Timeline

  1. HIFU Treatment
  2. 3D HIFU Treatment
  3. 4D HIFU Treatment
  4. 4D Ultra HIFU
  5. HIFU Ultra
  6. MED: HIFU Ultra (only used by approved medical clinics)

There was another device released in 2018 called 5D HICE ICE, however, this was a cheap Chinese copy of the machine and its effects have been little proven. The device has caused many injuries and severe side effects in the UK.

We would strongly recommend against this technology and going to an approved HIFU clinic.

More about 4D HIFU and how the treatment works.

Medical Grade HIFU Treatment.

RT Aesthetics Newcastle is the only clinic in the North of England to offer MED: HIFU Ultra facial treatments. With MED: HIFU Ultra the results are 92% more effective with an increase rate of 97% client satisfaction.

MED: HIFU Ultra has its own serial number to track each client’s results, they fire 950,000 more dots into the treatment area, resulting in increased results and efficiency. This is 6 times more than 4D or 5D HIFU alone.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does HIFU treatment work?

MED: HIFU Ultra+ (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) energy is beamed below the skin in 3 different layers. HIFU affects three layers of the superficial and dermis along with SMAS, which is the same layer of tissue that surgeons pull tight in a facelift. As thermal energy safely heats this tissue, the skin contracts resulting in tightening of the skin and the formation of new collagen, which provides a longer-term tightening effect.

What to expect after the HIFU treatment?

Clients may develop redness, swelling or tingling of the face following the HIFU facial treatment. These symptoms are not permanent and will usually fade within hours after treatment. RT Aesthetics can provide a cream prior to you leaving the clinic, which helps settle the skin and is available for you to buy to take home. During this time the effects of the MED: HIFU Ultra+ treatment will signal the production of new collagen and the process of regeneration. MED: HIFU Ultra+ skin tightening treatments are clinically proven to be safe and effective, with natural and gradual rejuvenation effects.

How many HIFU treatments are needed?

Many clients only need one treatment of MED: HIFU Ultra+. However, based on the degree of skin laxity, the biological response to ultrasound energy and the client’s collagen-building process, some clients benefit from additional treatment after 8 – 12 weeks. Results from HIFU treatment can be seen within 12 weeks, with further results being reported for up to 6 months after the initial procedure. Clients who have undergone HIFU treatment can benefit from long-lasting results in excess of 2 – 3 years*. Although, as the skin continues to age, future touch-up treatments may be taken by the client yearly, this can help clients keep pace with the body’s natural ageing process.

Is HIFU like a facelift?

MED: HIFU Ultra+ procedures treat the deep foundational layer that is addressed during cosmetic surgery but will not duplicate the results of a facelift. MED: HIFU Ultra+ is a great alternative to having surgery and is one the last procedures you can have before looking to have surgery to treat a problem area. However, for the many clients who do not want to have surgery, or for those clients that want to extend the effects of pre/post cosmetic surgery, HIFU treatment may be an option for you.

Is HIFU treatment safe?

Certificated by the FDA and CE cleared for eyebrow lifting, this high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) device also achieves excellent aesthetic outcomes in jowl lifting, nasolabial fold reduction, periorbital wrinkle reduction and overall skin tightening and rejuvenation in targeted areas. Ultra therapy has been used safely in over 1,000,000 treatments worldwide.

When will I see results from HIFU?

After your MED: HIFU Ultra+ treatment, many clients see some initial results, such as toning and feeling tight around the face and neck straight after the treatment. However, results take place over 3 – 6 months, as your body naturally starts the production of collagen and regenerates the skin tissue. As the production of new collagen begins, how long the results last really depends on the client’s own natural ageing process. The MED: HIFU Ultra treatment produces new collagen on the inside, but the natural ageing process will dictate how long that translates into visible results on the outside. Results can last for up to 2 – 3 years, however, clients who look after their skin can look forward to long-lasting effects from just one treatment.

What does HIFU feel like?

The HIFU treatment is not a painful procedure. As the high-intensity focused ultrasound energy is delivered, you will feel tiny amounts of energy being deposited to precise depths within the skin. This is an indication that the collagen-building process has been initiated. Most clients describe feeling either a pin prick sensation or a feeling of heat. Comfort levels vary from client to client, however, this sensation is only temporary and lasts while the ultrasound energy is administered. Some clients take paracetamol before the procedure to ease any discomfort, although this is not necessary.

Treatment areas for HIFU?

The MED: HIFU Ultra+ facelift treatment is perfect for treating and targeting signs of ageing around the eyes, mouth and neck. HIFU treatment can also target the jawline and décolletage. This helps to reduce signs of double chins, and sagging neck and jawlines, resulting in a tighter, firmer and more defined neck and jawline. HIFU treatment can treat the following areas: Forehead, Frown Lines, Eyebrows, Crow’s Feet, Cheeks, Double Chins, Sagging Neck, Jowls, Décolletage and Face.

Do men have HIFU treatment?

The MED: HIFU Ultra+ treatment is great for both men and women. We see many men at our clinic who opt to have the HIFU treatment to help lift jowls, tighten skin and help turn back the years. As there is no recovery time needed for MED: HIFU Ultra+ Facelift treatment, people can immediately return to their daily activities.

HIFU treatment side effects?

After the MED: HIFU Ultra+ treatment, the skin may initially appear ‘flushed’, but the redness should disappear within a few hours post-treatment. Some clients experience light swelling, tingling or tenderness to the touch, however, these are temporary and will fade within 7 – 10 days post-treatment. Less common side effects may include temporary bruising or numbness on small areas of skin. As with any medical or cosmetic procedure, there is the possibility of rarer side effects, which your aesthetic practitioner will review with you during your face-to-face consultation.

How painful is HIFU?

The MED: HIFU Ultra+ treatment is a non-invasive, non-surgical procedure with no downtime, allowing clients to resume daily activities immediately after treatment. The MED: HIFU Ultra+ discomfort levels vary from client to client, with most clients tolerating the procedure well. However, clients who have a lower pain threshold can take paracetamol to help ease any discomfort. Any pain or discomfort associated with the MED: HIFU Ultra+ treatment is temporary and will only last during the procedure.
