Exilis at our Newcastle clinic is recommended for anyone between the ages of 25 and 70+. It is advised to book a no-obligation consultation service prior to treatment. This enables our practitioners to tailor treatments to ensure the most effective result for each client.

Whilst performing the treatment, a handheld device is used directly on the area of concern. Heat is generated within the area, created by repetitive rhythmic movements. There will be a warm sensation from the heat energy as it penetrates the deep layers of the skin, stimulating new collagen formation. A cooling sensation is also engaged during the procedure, which protects the skin from overheating.

Procedure Time

30 - 90 Minutes

Depending on the number of areas you’re having treated, it takes around 30 - 90 minutes from start to finish. Your aesthetic practitioner will be with you throughout your treatment.

Potential Risks

Mild Redness, Swelling or Bruising

Although risks are rare, some clients report mild redness, bruising and slight swelling after treatment. These are mild and can last up to 48 hours post treatment, however, most clients do not suffer any post-treatment sensitivities.

Our Care.

Prior to your BTL Exilis Ultra Face treatment, there are a number of steps you can take to ensure the best possible results following your treatment. This includes the following:

  • Increase water intake (aim for 2 - 3 litres per day)
  • Avoid other anti-ageing treatments 4 weeks prior to treatment
  • Avoid any facial peels, exfoliation or microdermabrasion 2 weeks before treatment
  • It’s recommended that male clients come to their appointment clean shaven
  • We cannot provide the treatment if you have previously had threads within the last year unless it has been discussed with the aesthetic practitioner prior to treatment
  • Avoid alcohol consumption for a minimum of 48 hours prior to your appointment
  • Avoid IPL / laser treatments in the area that you wish to have treated 2 weeks prior to your appointment
  • Avoid sun-beds or direct UV exposure for a minimum of 1 week prior to your appointment
  • If you have any open sores, infection or skin sensitivity in the area, we cannot treat it unless discussed with the Aesthetic Practitioner prior to treatment
  • If you have a history of cold sores, consider beginning prophylactic treatment no later than the day of treatment

In order to achieve optimum results from your BTL Exilis Ultra Face treatment, we strongly recommend the following:

  • Avoid alcohol consumption for a minimum of 48 hours
  • Avoid hot water, heat treatments (saunas, steam rooms, etc) or extreme cold for 24 hours
  • Drink 2 – 3 litres of water daily, keep a large bottle with you at all times and infuse with lemons and limes for flavour - this will help hydrate the skin and help to flush out toxins
  • Avoid sun-beds or direct UV exposure for a minimum of 1 week and apply SPF daily to protect the skin
  • RT Aesthetics has a range of different skincare to help after your treatment - the skincare should be used after your treatment daily and the directions on how to use each product can be found on the packaging
  • Skin may feel dry after treatment, so you should apply a replenishing/hydrating mask three times a week or apply hyaluronic acid daily
  • Do not take aspirin or other anticoagulant medications as this can hinder the healing process
  • Normal cleansing regimes can be resumed after 24 hours, although avoid using scented or fragranced products around the treatment area unless you are using the skincare given to you at the clinic
  • Allow 2 weeks before continuing any laser/IPL treatments in the area that you had treated

The vast majority of people we see here at RT Aesthetics, as long as they are over the age of 18, are able to have the BTL Exilis Ultra Face treatment. However there are some contraindications to this treatment listed below. If you have a health condition that is not listed and you are concerned about your suitability for this treatment, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

  • Before the treatment, you will meet with one of our aesthetic practitioners who will discuss the treatment in detail, look at the problem area(s) and ensure you are comfortable with everything
  • We will make sure all your questions and concerns are answered and that you are fully confident having the treatment
  • On the day of your BTL Exilis Ultra Face treatment we will go through your consent forms, explain in detail what is going to happen and take photos
  • The aesthetic practitioner will place a pad on your skin so that you are grounded during the treatment, this is because the radio-frequency used is mono-polar and needs to be grounded to the machine
  • Ultrasound gel is then applied to the face - this is to ensure that the heat felt is comfortable and to allow the radio-frequency energy to be absorbed effectively into the desired skin layers
  • Most clients describe the sensation of the therapy as being comparable to that of a pain-free, hot stone massage
  • At the end of the treatment the aesthetic practitioner will clean the face and remove any excess gel
  • Accelerate the results at home with our aftercare serum and apply at least twice a day for 3 – 6 months post-treatment - the aftercare serum aids in the production, repair and renewal of collagen and has the added benefit of making your skin feel great
  • You will be given aftercare advice on the day of your treatment and this will also be sent to you via email for you to refer back to

  • How long do the results last?

    For fat reduction and body shaping, the results of Exilis Ultra 360 can last for a few years. Be reminded, however, that your lifestyle also plays a part in maintaining stable, long-term results. For treatment of wrinkles and sagging skin, the results can last for about two years, but this will still depend on every patient.

  • Do I need a top-up?

    After the course of 4 we advise our clients to return for the top up sessions between 6 - 12 months to maintain and keep on top of the results (skin tightening only not fat reduction).

  • Are there any side effects?

    As the procedure is non-invasive, there is no downtime or recovery period required. Your skin may turn slightly pink after the procedure, but this subsides within a few hours. You can return to your normal routines directly after the session.

  • How many treatments are required?

    For the face or body, our therapists advise a course of 4 treatments to be carried out on a 1 - 2 week basis to get the maximum results – within 12 weeks the results start to show more so, and then at 6 months we see maximum results; the higher the settings (heat) the better the results. At the Clinic we take before photos and after photos, to monitor the progress and to keep results for patient records.

  • Is the treatment painful?

    The sensation of this treatment is a feeling of heat -the temperature needed for results is 40 degrees, which is reached within one and a half minutes. which gets to the temperature needed for results at 40 degrees within one and a half minutes. This results in a very pleasant and warm sensation that heats up the skin, to reboot and become tighter. The Radio Frequency heats up the cells which have lost elasticity and reboots cells deeper in the skin. This works to make skin plumper and tighter, as well as giving the skin a healthy glow on the surface and puffing out any fine lines.

  • What is BTL Exilis Radio Frequency?

    This treatment is an effective, non-invasive skin tightening treatment with no downtime, and visible results for some people after just one treatment. The treatment is designed to enhance collagen and elastin production in the skin. We tailor the settings to our patient’s needs and heat tolerance.
