Loss Of Firmness/Sagging Skin.
Sagging skin and loss of firmness occur due to lower collagen and elastin production as we age.
Collagen and elastin are the naturally occurring proteins found in the skin’s connective tissues, responsible for maintaining its firmness and elasticity. As we age, collagen and elastin production decreases and we notice sagging, a decrease in volume, and lines and wrinkles. Sagging skin can also occur due to extreme weight loss. Skin tightening treatments at RT Aesthetics work on problem areas, tackling loose and sagging skin with precision. These areas can include the face, neck, stomach, legs, arms and more.

More About Sagging Skin.
Loss of Firmness Of Skin
Sagging skin and loss of firmness are natural parts of the ageing process. The appearance of ageing can manifest in several ways in the neck and lower face. Commonly known as “turkey neck”, this occurs as skin loses its elasticity and in cases where individuals have lost a great deal of weight. Sagging is usually most apparent along the jowl line and the term for this is ‘jowls‘. Stubborn fat under the chin can cause sagging and give the appearance of bloating. Finally, as the muscles of the neck weaken with age, the vertical cords of tissue begin to stretch out of shape, causing unsightly bands around the neck.
Prevention Of Sagging Skin
Although it isn’t possible to put a stop to ageing, there are several treatments designed to treat loss of firmness and sagging skin. There are also some at-home techniques you can adopt to delay the ageing process:
- Protect your skin from harmful UVA rays with sunscreen, even in winter
- Stay hydrated and eat a diet rich in fruit and vegetables
- Refrain from smoking
- Get plenty of Vitamin C and E
- Choose cosmeceutical skincare rich in antioxidants, peptides and vitamin A
