As you are reading this you may be doing your background research on HIFU facial and may no little to nothing about the technology and how it can help you, we’re here to help you. How Does HIFU Facial Work?

As with many non-surgical, non-invasive treatments, you may be thinking can it really work or will I just be wasting my hard earned cashed. The science and research is key to understand how the procedure works and what benefits you can expect from the HIFU facial treatment. The technical stuff can sound a bit complicated, however we are going to make it clear and straight forward to understand.

The 4D HIFU machine delivers high intensity ultrasound energy deep into the facial tissues and the SMAS layer (muscles), which is the same layer tightened during a conventional surgical face lift. It is within these deep and sub dermal layers where the focused ultrasound energy results in micro trauma resulting in a natural body response. As the tissue heals over the 6 – 12 weeks it contracts, tightens and stimulates new collagen production. Collagen is what keeps your skin youthful. It’s the substructure upon which the skin relies on, but as we age the collagen production naturally slows, resulting in the appearance of wrinkles, jowls, eye bags and less elasticity in the skin – all the typical signs of ageing.

Stimulating new collagen is very difficult and many look for anti-ageing creams and serums to help promote new collagen. For many clients this does not work as the serum does not get deep enough into the skin layers to stimuli new collagen. Following a HIFU treatment, as the collagen fibres recover, they shorten resulting in a tightening effect on the skin – giving you the youthful results you’ve been waiting for its that simple.

HIFU Facial Consultation & Treatment

During the face to face consultation the aesthetic practitioner will assess your skin, problem area and ask questions regarding your lifestyle and medical history to build a treatment plan based. The treatment plan will consists of this information and your goals and expectations from the treatment. The practitioner will then take before photos so that they can track your progress throughout the procedure.

The procedure begins with the aesthetic practitioner drawing guidelines on your face marking the areas needing to be targeted during the treatment and this includes the forehead frown lines, crows feet, jowls, cheeks, chin, neck and the décolletage. A hand-held 3D HIFU applicator is then slowly moved repeatedly (using 3 cartridges) across those areas marked up beforehand starting with the neck and chin and slowly working up towards the face towards the forehead and eye area. Towards the end of the treatment the aesthetic practitioner will use a more precise applicator around the brow, under eyes and crows feet.

Although most clients find the treatment pain-free, some clients feel mild discomfort near the bone and chin area as the energy is felt in the bone and teeth area the most. As the results are proven to be very effective its to deal with for the results. As many people say – no pain no gain. The treatment can take up to three hours and towards the end the aesthetic practitioner will offer you some water, take some photos and show you the progress you’ve made within this treatment on the same day.

HIFU takes 6 – 12 weeks to fully work, however many clients see around 20% results on the same day. Most clients experience tighter skin and more texture on the same day with further results to develop over the coming weeks. The effects from HIFU can last a year and there is no need for more than one treatment per year.
