Why HIFU treatments go wrong.

Why HIFU treatments go wrong.

Have you heard about a HIFU treatment gone wrong?

So you've looked into having HIFU. You have to search about HIFU going wrong or the side effects of HIFU. You have been bombarded with loads of horror stories. It's made you nervous. We don't blame you, It would be us.

Here at RT Aesthetics HIFU, we have been providing it for 9 years. Don't get us wrong the technology is always getting better and we are passionate about upgrading our devices when new devices come to the market but only if they are medical-grade devices which have gone through all the clinical trials. Some older HIFU systems are painful and a little nippy but not the ULTRAcel Q+ (medical grade device), this is why some of you may hear negative and scary things regarding HIFU as there are a lot of fake or copycat devices on the market, or people are not fully trained.

What is HIFU?

HIFU stands for High Intensity Focused Ultrasound and uses thermal trauma, that targets the skin at particular layers of the skin, 6mm (only for fat in the double chin area) 4.5mm, 3mm, 2mm and 1.5mm. Your skin is heated up at these depths, which causes a minor controlled trauma not visible as HIFU is working internally. This will help the skin naturally produce fresh collagen and elastin, and your skin contracts and tightens in response to the treatment for up to 6 months.

During a treatment, During the treatment will target the skin at different depths depending on the area of the face we are treating, we also take into consideration the slenderness of the face and where the face may have naturally lost volume – this gives you amazing results. A lot of people will treat the face the same on everyone but here at RT Aesthetics one HIFU does not fit all we tailor it to each individual, this is so each person gets the best results they possibly can.

Why does HIFU treatment go wrong?

The main reason that HIFU treatments do go wrong and people don't get the results they were looking for.

  1. The wrong depth cartridge was used during treatment and too high energy levels.
  2. The HIFU system being used heats the skin too much and causes burns or blisters on the surface of the skin
  3. Copycat devices with no FDA approval or they are not medical-grade machines.
  4. Unrealistic promises are made with results that can't be achieved.
Unrealistic promises.

If a practitioner is making promises of being forever young, this is not the case it will help slow the ageing process down and help the skin look more plump and healthy.

HIFU treatments are fantastic as anti-ageing and skin rejuvenation treatments. HIFU does help tighten and lift your skin, it is amazing for saggy jowls and crapy skin on the neck - BUT REMEMBER you may need multiple treatments or a combination of treatments to work along HIFU. You’ll also need maintenance treatments, as sadly, we can’t stop the skin from ageing naturally.  If you’re promised amazing, unrealistic results to turn back the clock by 10-20 years you will be left disappointed and out of pocket.

Treatments for the face and neck are usually 1-2 treatments, with the first two around 3 months apart. Maintenance treatments are needed every 18 months to 2 years when HIFU is used not in combination with a second HIFU or another treatment.

HIFU is working internally so will take a little longer to see visual results from one treatment. You will see optimum results around 6 months but it's worth the wait.

To find out more and see if HIFU is the best choice of non-surgical treatments is the best for you book a consultation now at RT Aesthetics.
