Tear Trough Filler in Newcastle: Why We Use Polynucleotides Instead

The tear trough is the groove that runs from the inner corner of your eye down towards your cheek. When it hollows out, it catches shadow, and you look tired even after a full night's sleep. A lot of clinics in Newcastle treat it with filler. We don't. At our Whickham clinic we treat the under-eye area with Vitaran Eyes polynucleotides, because we think it is the safer choice for this part of the face and the results are very good.

Why the tear trough hollows

With age the fat pads under the eye shrink and slip a little, the bone underneath loses some volume and the skin gets thinner. Some people just inherit a deep groove and have had it since their twenties. Thin skin lets the darker tissue underneath show through, which is why the area looks shadowed and tired.

Why we don't use tear trough filler

Tear trough filler means placing hyaluronic acid gel under very thin skin, close to the eye. When it goes well it can look good, but this is one of the areas where filler most often goes wrong. It can show through as a lump or a bluish tinge, it can hold fluid and make the area look puffier than before, and it can move over time. The serious risks of filler, though rare, also apply here.

For most people the real problem under the eyes is thin, crepey skin rather than missing volume, and filler does nothing for skin quality. So rather than filling the hollow, we treat the skin itself.

Vitaran Eyes polynucleotides

Vitaran Eyes is a polynucleotide treatment made for the under-eye area. It adds no volume. Instead it helps thin, crepey skin become thicker and firmer, so the darkness underneath shows through less and the area looks fresher and less tired. Because nothing is being used to fill the area, you avoid the lumps, puffiness and migration that come with filler here.

If the problem is loose or hooded skin rather than dark, thin skin, it may be a job for HIFU around the eyes instead, and we will tell you so.
