Body Ballancer®
Body Ballancer is a compression therapy treatment that does the job of a lymphatic drainage massage with a machine, evenly and for the whole limb at once. You lie down in an inflatable garment, and 24 overlapping air chambers squeeze and release in sequence from the feet up towards the torso, moving fluid and waste that has pooled in the tissue back into circulation so the body can clear it. At our Newcastle clinic it is £100 a session or £999 for a course of twelve, and consultations are free.
What it does
The lymphatic system drains excess fluid and waste from the tissue, but it has no pump of its own and relies on movement to keep flowing. When it slows down, from long days sitting or standing, travel, hormones, illness or simply inactivity, fluid collects and you feel it: heavy or puffy legs, a bloated stomach, ankles that swell by the evening, skin that looks dull and dimpled. Body Ballancer moves that fluid on. Most people feel lighter and less swollen after the first session, and a course improves the look of cellulite and skin tone on the legs, hips and stomach because the tissue is no longer congested.

It is a wellbeing and aesthetic treatment. If you have a diagnosed lymphatic or circulatory condition, a history of blood clots, a heart or kidney condition, or you are pregnant, tell us at the consultation, because compression therapy is not suitable in every case and we may ask you to check with your GP first.
How it works
The Body Ballancer garments zip around the legs and hips or the arms and torso. Each one contains 24 individual air chambers that overlap, so there are no gaps in the massage. The chambers inflate one after another from the far end of the limb towards the body, exactly the direction a manual lymphatic drainage therapist works in, and the pressure can be set from gentle to firm. A session lasts 30 to 60 minutes depending on the areas treated. Most people find it deeply relaxing and plenty fall asleep.
Body Ballancer with fat reduction treatments
Non-surgical fat reduction works by breaking down fat cells so the body can remove them through the lymphatic system. That process is the limiting step, which is why we pair Body Ballancer with Emerald Laser, Exilis Ultra Body and EMSculpt Neo, and why several of our body packages include a course of it. The drainage sessions help the body clear the released fat and fluid, keep swelling down and make the result visible sooner.
How many sessions
One session makes you feel lighter. A visible change in fluid retention and skin tone takes a course, usually six to twelve sessions, once or twice a week to begin with and then spaced out as the tissue settles. When Body Ballancer is supporting a fat reduction treatment, the sessions are timed around that treatment and planned with it at your consultation.

Why Body Ballancer rather than another compression system
Body Ballancer is made by Mego Afek, which has spent more than thirty years making medical compression therapy systems and specialises in nothing else. The overlapping 24-chamber garments and the sequence of the strokes are what separate it from cheaper pressotherapy machines with a handful of large chambers. It is the reason we chose it for the clinic and the reason it is used in medical settings as well as aesthetic ones.
On the day and afterwards
Wear something comfortable; the garment goes over light clothing. Drink water before and after, because the treatment moves fluid that your kidneys then clear, and expect to need the toilet more for a few hours. There is no downtime and nothing to avoid afterwards.
