Hip Dip Filler Newcastle: What It Does, Who It Suits and Cost
Contents
Hip dips are the inward curve on the side of the body between the top of the hip and the top of the thigh. Plenty of people have them, and plenty of people would rather they didn't. Hip dip filler softens that curve with a hyaluronic acid filler placed under the skin, so the line from waist to thigh looks smoother. We offer it at our clinic in Whickham, Newcastle, and this page covers what it can and can't do, who it suits, what the appointment is like and how much it costs.
The short version
- Hip dips come from the shape of your pelvis and how muscle and fat sit around it, so diet and exercise rarely change them much.
- Filler fills the dip directly. The result shows straight away and usually lasts around a year or longer.
- It is prescriber-led and starts with a £25 consultation, where we tell you honestly whether filler is the right answer for you.
What causes hip dips
Hip dips are mostly structural. They come from the width and height of the pelvis, where the top of the thigh bone sits, and how muscle and fat are spread over both. That is why slim, fit people often have them, and why they don't go away with weight loss. Sometimes the dip looks deeper because there is a little extra fat just above it or on the outer thigh below it, and that changes what we recommend.
How hip dip filler works
A filler made for the body, thicker than the filler used in the face, is placed under the skin into the hollow on each side. It lifts the dip so the curve runs more smoothly from the hip down to the thigh. Most people need several millilitres per side, and the amount depends on how deep the dip is and how much of a change you want. Some people prefer a subtle softening and some want the line filled out more. We plan that with you before anything is injected.
What the appointment is like
It starts with a consultation with our prescriber, who looks at the area, checks your medical history and talks through what is realistic. The area is cleaned and numbed, the filler is placed through a small number of entry points, and the treatment itself usually takes under an hour. You can see the difference before you leave. Expect some swelling, tenderness and possibly bruising for a few days. We give you aftercare advice on the day, including keeping clothing loose and skipping the gym for a day or two.
How long the results last
The filler breaks down gradually over time. Most people find the result lasts around a year, often longer. You can top it up when it starts to fade or simply let it go. Because it is hyaluronic acid, it can be dissolved if ever needed, which is one reason we use it rather than anything permanent.
Who it suits, and when we would suggest something else
Hip dip filler suits people whose dip is mainly structural and who want a smoother outline without surgery. It is not a weight loss treatment and it won't change your overall shape. If the dip is made deeper by a pocket of fat sitting above or below it, fat reduction on that area can make a bigger difference, and fat freezing on the love handles or outer thighs is often the better first step. If you also want more lift and shape in the bum, EMSculpt Neo builds muscle there. We will tell you at the consultation if filler is not the right tool, rather than book it anyway.

Common questions
Does hip dip filler hurt?
The area is numbed first and most people describe it as pressure rather than pain. It can feel tender for a few days afterwards.
Can exercise fix hip dips?
Building the muscles around the hip and glutes can soften them a little, but because the dip comes from bone shape, exercise usually can't remove it.
Is hip dip filler safe?
In trained hands with a reputable filler it has a good safety record. Like any injectable it carries risks, including bruising, swelling, lumps and, rarely, infection. That is why it is prescriber-led and why we go through your medical history first.
Can I combine it with other treatments?
Yes. Some people have fat freezing first to reduce fat above or below the dip, then filler once the result has settled.
