Non-Surgical Neck Lift

The neck is often the first place to show age. The skin is thinner than on the face, it has fewer oil glands and it is moving all day, so it loosens, creases and softens into what people call a turkey neck long before the rest of the face catches up. If you have started angling the camera to hide it, a non-surgical neck lift can tighten and lift the area without a scalpel or weeks off work.

RT Aesthetics is a medically led clinic in Whickham, Newcastle upon Tyne. At your free assessment we look at how much the skin has slackened, whether there is fat under the chin as well, and how your neck moves, then put together a plan using HIFU, Exilis Ultra or both. Every treatment is carried out here in the clinic by trained practitioners.

  • Tightens loose, crepey skin on the neck and under the jaw
  • Softens horizontal neck lines and early bands
  • Builds your own collagen, so the result keeps improving for months
  • No surgery or needles, no downtime, and a free assessment first

Non-Surgical Neck Lift Treatments

Our goal is simple: safe treatment, results you can measure, and support that carries on after you leave the clinic.

Non-Surgical Neck Lift in Newcastle

Why the neck ages the way it does

Neck skin is thin, it sits over very little fat and it is attached to a broad sheet of muscle called the platysma that stretches from the chest to the jaw. As collagen and elastin fall away from the mid thirties onwards, the skin loses its snap, the platysma slackens and the two together give you the familiar changes: a softer line under the jaw, loose skin that gathers when you look down, horizontal lines across the throat and, later, the vertical bands that stand out when you talk. Sun exposure speeds all of it up, which is why the neck and chest often look older than a face that has been protected with SPF for years.

Creams cannot reach the layer where this happens. A surgical neck lift can, but it means an anaesthetic, incisions behind the ears, drains and two to three weeks of visible recovery. The non-surgical route uses focused ultrasound or radiofrequency to heat that deeper layer, make the tissue contract and set off new collagen production, so the neck tightens gradually over the following weeks.

Neck lift treatments, and what they cost

We use two technologies for the neck. Which one we recommend depends on how loose the skin is, how much time you have and what you want the end result to look like.

HIFU (ULTRAcel Q+) for the neck

HIFU is the strongest non-surgical lift we offer. The ULTRAcel Q+ system delivers focused ultrasound to precise depths, including the layer surgeons tighten in a facelift, without touching the surface of the skin. Usually one session is enough, with a second for heavier laxity. Neck only is £995, face and neck together is £1,295, and a two session course for the neck is £1,899. A neck treatment takes around an hour.

Exilis Ultra for the neck

BTL Exilis Ultra combines radiofrequency and ultrasound to warm the dermis to around 40 degrees and hold it there while the applicator moves over the neck. It is gentler than HIFU, it feels like a hot stone massage and it suits earlier, milder laxity or clients who would rather build the result over a course. Sessions are one to two weeks apart. A course of four for the neck is £975, six sessions is £1,299, and face and neck starts at £1,275 for four.

Face and neck together

Most people who are unhappy with their neck are also seeing early jowls, because the two are connected. Treating the lower face and neck in one plan gives a cleaner line from the ear to the chin than tackling the neck on its own, and the combined prices above reflect that. If the jawline is the bigger worry, start with our non-surgical facelift page or the page on jowls.

Double chin and neck fat

If what bothers you is fullness under the chin rather than loose skin, the answer is different. Fat under the jaw responds to fat freezing or HIFU set to the fat layer, and tightening alone will not shift it. We cover that on the double chin page, and it is common for a plan to include both: reduce the fat first, then tighten the skin over it.

Is a non-surgical neck lift right for you

It works best for mild to moderate laxity: skin that has softened and creased but still has some elasticity left. If you can pinch the skin on your neck and it springs back within a second or two, you are a good candidate. If it stays tented, or there is a large amount of excess skin after major weight loss, surgery will give you more and we will tell you so at the assessment. We would rather send you to a surgeon than take your money for a treatment that will disappoint you.

Age is less important than skin quality. We treat clients in their late thirties who want to get ahead of the first changes, and clients in their sixties who want a tidier neck without an operation. Both get a plan built for their skin rather than a one size fits all protocol.

What to expect

Everything begins with a free assessment at the clinic. We examine the neck and lower face, take photographs for your records, explain which treatment suits you and give you a written price before anything is booked.

With HIFU, the skin is cleaned and marked, gel is applied and the handpiece delivers short pulses of ultrasound along the treatment lines. You feel a deep warmth with a prickling sensation on each pulse, stronger over the bony areas under the jaw. Some redness and mild swelling afterwards is normal and settles within a few hours, and you can go straight back to your day. With Exilis, the applicator glides over the skin and the sensation is a building warmth, with no marks afterwards at all.

Results and how long they last

Because both treatments work by triggering your own collagen, the change builds rather than appearing overnight. There is some tightening straight away from the tissue contracting, the real lift develops over eight to twelve weeks, and the neck keeps improving for up to six months. Results from HIFU typically last twelve to eighteen months, and a maintenance session then keeps it going. Exilis results are kept up with a top up course when you feel them fading. Our clients’ before and after photographs are further down this page.

Non-surgical neck lift or surgery

A surgical neck lift removes excess skin and tightens the platysma directly, so it lifts more and lasts longer, and for advanced laxity it is the only treatment that works. It also means a general anaesthetic, scars behind the ears, bruising and swelling for two to three weeks and a cost typically between £5,000 and £10,000 in the UK. A non-surgical neck lift costs a fraction of that, needs no time off and carries none of the surgical risks, with a more modest, natural looking lift in return. Many clients use it to put surgery off for years, and some never need it.

Safety

HIFU and Exilis Ultra are both well established, CE marked technologies with a long safety record when used by trained practitioners. RT Aesthetics is a medically led clinic and every treatment is carried out by a practitioner trained on the specific device. Side effects are mild and short lived: redness, slight swelling, tenderness to the touch and occasionally a small area of numbness that resolves on its own. We will not treat during pregnancy or over an active skin infection, and we check for metal or implanted electronic devices in the area at the assessment.
