Does Non Surgical Liposuction Work
Can Non Surgical Liposuction Work To Remove Unwanted Fat?
Do you have stubborn areas of fat that aren’t responding to dietary changes or exercise?
You might be curious about non-surgical body contouring treatments that target and destroy fat cells without the need for surgery. These include treatments such as Cryolipolysis (Fat Freezing), Cavitation and Radio Frequency.
Some of these non surgical treatment options work by freezing fat cells, others involve controlled heat through the use of ultrasound or radiofrequency energy. They offer a targeted way to reshape areas such as your abdomen, love handles, thighs, upper arms and chin.
But are they safe? And are the changes permanent?
These are non-invasive, non-surgical treatments and side effects are a very mild. However, it’s a good idea to review your medical history when you talk with your aesthetic practitioner about which treatment is best for you. Most clinics offer a face-to-face consultation so that you can meet with a practitioner and discuss your needs and expectations.
All types of body contouring devices work best for those who have a normal body mass index (between 18.5 and 24.9). They do permanently destroy fat cells. Non-surgical techniques won’t offer the same results as you would gain from a surgical procedure. Liposuction gets rid of about eight times the amount of fat, compared to these noninvasive treatments body sculpting treatments. These non-surgical treatments destroy the amount of fat you can pinch, called cutaneous fat.
Cryolipolysis - Fat Freezing
Cryolipolysis or Fat Freezing as it is more commonly known, is a revolutionary treatment that non-surgically removes and reduces the number of fat cells in specific areas on the body. The treatment is proving to be both a popular, highly effective and safe non-invasive alternative to liposuction.
Until very recently, the removal of stubborn fat cells resistant to dieting or exercise efforts, was only possible with surgery. Although traditional liposuction is effective, there is considerable downtime following the surgical procedure and as with any invasive treatment, there are risks of infection and complications. Cryolipolysis (Fat Freezing) is a relatively new procedure that is rapidly becoming the “go to” treatment for those who need to tackle surplus and unwanted fat.
Cryolipolysis involves temperatures cold enough to kill fat cells but not damage your skin or other cells within the body. A device pulls portions of skin in by suction, then cools it to destroy the fat underneath for a set amount of time, usually 45 minutes. You can use this procedure on many parts of the body, these include:
- Chin
- Arms
- Abdomen
- Love Handles
- Thighs & Legs
- Bra Fat
The procedure is safe for most clients and offers no downtime after the procedure. However, those who have a vascular condition that makes them extra sensitive to cold temperatures (Raynaud’s syndrome, for instance) should not use this treatment.
Is Fat Freezing Safe?
There have been millions of fat freezing treatments delivered worldwide and the procedure is considered to be a very safe treatment. With the potential health risks and recovery times associated with cosmetic surgery, cryolipolysis has become a very popular treatment for those seeking an alternative to traditional liposuction.
Fat freezing treatments are non-invasive, therefore there are no needles, incisions or medication required. Treatment times are quick, between 45 minutes and 1 hour. Unlike Liposuction, there is no down time or recovery time meaning you can get back to your daily tasks straight away.
How Many Treatments?
Most clients have between 1 or 2 treatments per treatment area. Initially a client will receive one treatment per area; for instance on their lower abdomen. They will then return at 6 - 8 weeks for a treatment review and follow up. Every client responds differently but our clients could achieve a reduction in fat that could equate to several inches.
The reduction of fat is on average between 25 - 40 percent. At the follow up review the client can decide whether they wish to re-treat that same area for a bigger reduction. You can treat an area multiple times to achieve the desired results.
BTL Exilis Ultra
BTL Exilis Ultra uses ultrasound energy to break down fat. It is the most time-intensive of the four types, taking approximately one hour per treatment session. Instead of hooking you up to a machine, a practitioner will move the device around manually. It uses a mechanical vibration to break down and destroy fat cells.
Radio frequency devices deliver energy to create heat and destroy fat cells. They target water in the cells, so it’s important to hydrate your body well before the treatment and afterwards. The treatment is not as effective if you’re dehydrated. You might feel a warm sensation during this procedure which many clients find relaxing.
Ultrasonic Cavitation can be used on almost any area of the body to reduce stubborn fat cells. Areas that can be treated with Ultrasonic Cavitation include:
- Upper Stomach & Lower Stomach
- Love Handles
- Inner & Outer Thighs
- Legs
- Upper Arms
- Non-Surgical Brazilian Bum Lift
- Back Of Legs & More!
Most of our clients experience 2 - 5 cm of circumference reduction after a single initial session. This improves with each scheduled visit to our clinic. It is recommend to have 1 session every 72 hours, this ensure the cells do not reabsorb the fat, and that you gain optimal results from treatment. Although this does not mean you will gain the fat back after your treatment finishes.

How To Find A Good Provider?
It is a good idea to do your homework and choose a provider carefully. A well trained aesthetic practitioner is your best bet for good results. Most clinics will have reviews on any different platforms and before and after photos. The treatments are safe and effective, but things can go wrong if the provider doesn’t operate the equipment correctly.
