Vaser Liposuction vs Fat Freezing – Which Is Better

When it comes to body contouring there are a variety of different treatments and procedures about that claim to tackle the issue.

Both Fat Freezing and Vaser Lipo can help get rid of stubborn pockets of body fat, giving you a smoother figure and slimmer appearance.

People who are looking into getting non-surgical and minimally invasive fat removal treatment have probably heard about Fat Freezing and Vaser Liposuction. These two procedures are both promising when it comes too dissolving fats in the body without putting the patient under the knife and without downtime. But is one better than the other?

It is hard to tell which one is a better option when you have not tried both. Good thing you never have to go through the same procedure to tell the difference. The information below might just help you decide which one will work best for you.

Vaser Liposuction

Vaser Liposuction is a minimally invasive treatment aimed at contouring and shaping the body. Usually performed under local anaesthetic with the option of sedation, the process involves making small incisions in the area to be treated before small probes are then inserted and used to transmit the ultrasound energy and liquefy fat cells prior to removal via a gentle suction process.

Vaser Liposuction uses ultrasound technology to essentially shake the fat cells loose from the connecting tissue that holds them in place. As a result, the fat will be removed easily from the trouble areas. But a keyhole incision has to be made in order for the surgeon or the physician to slip a hollow and thin piece of metallic tube into the subcutaneous layer of fat through which the mixture of local aesthetic and saline will be injected.

The tube pulsates in ultrasonic frequencies that are intended to remove the fat cells. When done the fats will be suctioned off right away. There may be local aesthetics that will be left behind and this is something you should not worry about because this can help in the post-operative pain, if there is any.

Benefits of Vaser Liposuction

  • Targets the fats only but is not a threat to the surrounding tissues
  • Known to be safer compared to other procedures that use ultrasound waves
  • Breaks down fat issues to make it easier to eliminate from the body
  • Enables the practitioner to make the treatment more precise

Fat Freezing

Fat Freezing is essentially the aim of the procedure, to freeze fat cells to below -10 to destroy them. Fat Freezing works by delivering carefully controlled cooling which targets the fat cells underneath the skin. Post-treatment your body will begin to naturally process and eliminate the dead fat cells which reduce the number of fat cells in your body.

Your fat cells are less resilient to the cold than other types of cells. This means we can effectively “kill” the fat cells using cold temperatures and it won’t affect your skin or other tissue. Once destroyed, your body recognises that the cells are damaged and removes them over the following weeks through your lymphatic system (your body’s natural waste disposal system).

Fat Freezing and Vaser Liposuction are often the most commonly researched when it comes to picking a procedure for removing areas of fat. But how do they compare?

Side Effects & Risks

When undergoing any cosmetic procedure whether it is surgical or non-surgical, you should always understand the risks.

Vaser Lipo

As a surgical procedure, Vaser Lipo carries considerably more risk than a non-surgical treatment.

The more common side effects include:

  • Bruising and bleeding
  • Pain and aching in the areas treated
  • Persistent swelling for days or weeks
  • Loose skin that doesn’t quite fit your new body shape
  • Long-term scarring
  • Asymmetry or lumps and bumps

A very small number of people can also experience serious side effects such as infection that can be life-threatening.

Fat Freezing

As Fat Freezing is a non-invasive and painless procedure there’s no anaesthetic required, making it a much safer choice.

Some people do experience the following:

  • Redness and Bruising of the treated area –  can last for a number of days.
  • Numbness – can last a few hours up to 2 weeks
  • The treated area can feel cold, firm and frozen. This normally resolves within a few hours up to a couple of days.
  • Tenderness or sensitivity

Rare complications of a Fat Freeze procedure include a freeze burn or paradoxical adipose hyperplasia. There’s no risk of infection and no life-threatening complications.

Results

Understanding the results you can achieve with Fat Freezing vs Vaser Lipo is important in helping you choose the correct procedure.

As an honest review, Vaser Lipo comes out on top to deliver better results than can be achieved with Fat Freezing. Up to 70% of the fat in the area can be removed with Vaser Lipo during a procedure.

That is certainly not to say that the results with Fat Freezing aren’t considerable or impressive. Fat Freezing can reduce fat by up to 40% in the desired area.

When you compare Fat Freezing and Vaser Lipo results you should keep in mind the costs, recovery time and potential risks.
